For us, this was a trip of a lifetime, so we spent a lot of time researching and planning our itinerary.
We traveled for three months via motorhome in western Europe, and a couple months in England & Ireland in a rental car using B&Bs and hostels.
In this E-book and spreadsheet, we share our experiences and lessons learned with others who might be pondering their own travels, or simply looking for ideas.
This is a practical guide that describes what we learned, our thought processes as we made choices, and how things turned out.
We cover what you need to know before you go, various options for traveling in Europe by RV, ways to find campgrounds and discounts, driving in Europe, and what to expect.
We have boiled down a lot of research into the critical facts and considerations, and included links to resources we discovered in our planning process. So perhaps we can save you some time.
The accompanying Europe Spreadsheet is an Excel file that we used to plan our trip. It details our day-by-day itinerary and expenses. We think it makes a handy tool for others and can be modified by the user to develop their own plans or brainstorm possibilities. It includes links to our travel photos, videos and journal for each area we visited.
We really had a grand journey in Europe. We think RV travel is a great way to see the countryside as well as the major cities and landmarks. Our travels in England and Ireland also enabled us to get around the country at our own pace and off the beaten path. We wanted to be flexible in our travels, but not unprepared. Our solid detailed plan made sure we didn’t find ourselves in Europe wasting time trying to figure things out.
Travel planning is part of the joy of travel. It helps build anticipation and wonder. But it can also be a bit of a chore. We hope to make it easier and more fun with our guide to planning your adventure. So give it a read. Get some ideas. Create your own dreams.
